Approaching the City Council

We will help you to petition or present your intentions of a YSCA Skate Park in your church parking lot to the appropriate board or committee.

Certain requirements might be asked: such as getting a petition signed by a certain number of supporters to our cause or writing a proposal for the park including cost estimations, a blueprint of the proposed features, and a time line for it's completion.

We need to find out all the details before we start the project. Is there an ordinance against skating already established in the area?

One excellent means of getting a head start on the process is by forming a YSCA skate club prior to submitting to the city. Not only does a club provide a united front of skaters, but they also go a long way to giving skating a good name through community involvement. It also helps to find a member of local government who is an inline skater--and there's always at least one!
